Excellent Sheep Book Summary

Image
The commonly perceived idea is that an elite b school in India will create elite leaders. But, the reality is far away from this. They might produce the highest number of successful businessman and leaders but they aren't the perfect fit for the job and certainly, they aren't the happiest. There are various ideas which are being discussed in this book and in this post I'm going to summarise them and present the crux of this book in front of you.  Excellent Sheep Key Idea #1: Students in elite colleges are beset with psychological problems and graduate feeling aimless. However glamourous college life may look from outside, studies have found that there is a mental crisis on the campus. This is very much true for elite colleges who outwardly appear to be super people, managing huge workloads and maintaining the aura of happiness. The stress of their studies might not be so bad if students were pursuing their dreams. But many aren’t. In fact, students at elite universities fee...

Taking a sharp turn - Indian Economy

Image
India was already going through an economic crisis in 2019 and COVID has just added fuel to the fire. If we let go of the current opportunity, it can lead to economic stagnation. Finance Minister's mission of  US $5trillion economy by 2025 seems distant. Due to some mishappenings and extreme policies of China, we have an opportunity to enhance our rank outperforming emerging economies. To fulfil the necessary requirements, the Indian GDP needs to grow by 8-8.5% over the next decade. We need to move towards high productivity sectors which have the potential to create more jobs. We need business models which can drive productivity and demand by harnessing global trends and Information Technology. Manufacturing and construction is one such sector which can contribute significantly to accelerating growth. With the development of the infrastructure pipeline , the manufacturing sector will have enough back support to drive labour-intensive as well as knowledge-intensive value chains. ...

Swadeshi Promotion - YouTube

Image
During the Marketing class at NITIE Mumbai, I came across the term - Responsible Marketing . Which got me to thinking how can we use this in our campaign " vocal for local " and market the Swadeshi Mandi event responsibly. I'm promoting various types of handlooms which are weaved in the central Indian region and are here for centuries. In this video, I have endorsed the Beautiful Bagh . During my research, I came to know that the Madhya Pradesh State government has already taken a few initiatives to endorse these art forms by organising various events in and around the region which brings the artists and customers on to a common platform and both benefit from it. I thought of leveraging the resources gathered by them and then take this initiative a step forward. I went to the Madhya Pradesh Tourism office located at Bhopal and met with the Digital Library Incharge. I thought that I might have to put in a lot of effort to gather resources and data that will boost my resea...

Development of new value chains

Image
We have seen a complete transition in the trade and value chains in recent times. We have witnessed a decline in trade intensity of value chains . But, in absolute terms, the output and trade both are continuously growing. The goods rolling out of the world's assembly line traded across the borders is decreasing. On the other hand, we have seen an increase in the services which are being traded across borders. India has been an emerging market in the service sector. Goods-producing value chains such as automotive, computer and electronic are focusing more on regional consumption. The shift is towards the regional market instead of the global market especially in Asia and Europe. In developing countries like India, the consumption is drastically increasing, goods which are produced in a country are being consumed in the same region. More and more domestic supply chains are being built in India reducing the dependence on imported inputs. We have seen Mr Modi' s vision of Atmanir...

For the past year, we Indoreans woke up to the jingle ‘ चौका लगायेंगे ’. On 20th August, Indore did hit it beyond the boundary, bagging #1 rank in the swachh sarvekshan for the fourth year in a row. The civic corporation had started preparing for this year even before it had finished its work for the previous year’s survey. The citizens of Indore played a significant role in making the city neat and clean. The cleanliness scenario of Indore was changed by improved habits of its people. Information, Education and Communication (IEC) became the key to behaviour change which lies at the foundation of making a success of Swachh Bharat Mission. Indore beat 4241 other cities and clinched the title by securing 5647.5 marks out of 6000 with the help of the following methodology. From IEC to Behavioral Change. IMC adopted and undertook a range of Information, Education and Communication activities ranging from traditional to audiovisual to print and electronic media to social/digital media ...

Personal branding in business communication

Image
Today we had a discussion with Mr Nikhil Kulkarni , our Alum from NITIE Mumbai . We all were eager to attend the most awaited class on Business Communication but we were surprised when our beloved professor Mr T Prasad told us that we'll be having a guest lecture. Then it all begun.  Initially Nikhil shared his experience and told us about the suite of Microsoft tools that has helped him achieve excellence. Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, these three are a major part of a Managers life. From reporting to presenting, from data collection to data analysis all tasks can be performed with the help of these tools. The value is much greater than what we percieve at this moment. Some initial work on these tools will help us excel and outperform our peers in the long run. We also discuseed various about reporting, what are the different types of reports and how should me differentitate  between them, which report is to be presented when among others. ...

"Swadeshi Mandi 2020"

Image
Maha Mandi a trademark event of NITIE Mumbai, which serves as a unique platform for students to conceptualize and implement marketing strategies to contribute towards the society. This year, in line with the Indian Government's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" Abhiyan we are coming up with a whole event of Swadeshi Mandi in which we are promoting products made/manufactured in India making India self-sufficient and self-reliant. We at NITIE, believe in Made-in-India and put our buying power into products and services that are made locally. I'm taking forward this initiative by highlighting the " Handloom Industry ". I have portrayed 5 types of handlooms that are weaved in the central Indian region and are here for centuries. The influx of new prints, clothes and machines couldn't weaken this strong art. Still, it is very famous here and I would like to take this hidden handloom industry further and endorse the same. The Handlooms which I'm endorsing are - Beaut...
